I just finished up a class at the International Center of Photography today called Fifteen Minute Portrait. The class actually took place at Splashlight which is a studio space on 35th street. The space was huge and the instructor David Turner was very informative and helpful. The things he had to say about the profession of photography were heart warming and motivated me to try harder. I took the class thinking it would be very focused on environmental portraits but it was more about quick lighting design for any type of portrait. It was lovely to play with huge lights and pliable models. So here are some shots from day one. All of these photos were taken with only one light, either a umbrellaed light from the side or a tremendous soft box.
