Choosing a President by The New York Times

At America's Edge by Jim Lo Scalzo

Rape of a Nation by Marcus Beasdale

The Marlboro Marine by Luis Sinco

Access to Life Mali by Paolo Pellegrin

Florida with Maddy

Some fun from Florida.

I worked on a photostory over break on an Oysterman in Apalachicola and will have photo's up from that soon. But there is a slight chance I might be able to sell one to the Sarasota Herald Tribune. So until then I'm keeping them off the page.

I've been in Florida for the last few days and here's just alittle shot I took. Kinda an accidental ode to John Hook's recent post.

The Bissell - a final project in the making

For my final project I shot with Matt and Val at the Bissell Mansion in St. Louis. Bissell is a murder mystery dinner theater that offered us a great time to improve our flash work...and hopefully make some grades.

J2000 - Islamic Center

I was working on a project for my Cross Cultural Journalism class which took me to the ICCM (Islamic Center of Central Missouri). It was nice to shoot something for a class that wasn't photo. It was less stressful and kinda fun.

PhotoJ - Fill/Balance

Just some more school work. This assignment couldn't have come at a worse time though, the first assignment that requires bright sunlight was in the first week that we didn't have that. Also it is CPOY (College Photographer of the Year) this week and I would much rather sit in the dark room and watch the judges work than anything else, but I found my way out side during one of the few hours we had nice light and made this shot.

PhotoJ - Color Correction

So this should have been put up about a week ago but better now than never. This is using gels to make a flash match the available light, in color and damn it, it is hard! Anyway this a photo from 2 days before the election as volunteers are being organized. yea the color's look a little off but that is kinda impossible to get around and is easily fixed if I had put it in photoshop.

Do you know who won?

Cause we sure as hell don't. All I know is that all my friends were crying, hugging each other, yelling. Are those good signs? = )

What a show, the whole town went crazy. People were honking their horns, running up to each other yelling, hugging, or even just giving high fives. I might do a multimedia thing with all of my election photo's from the last few months, but that will wait to be seen.

Mizzou Obama Rama!

With just 5 days remaining in the most important presidential race in recent memory, Barack Obama stopped by our humble town and spoke at our simple University. Over 40,000 came out to listen to Senator Obama's speech. The population of Columbia is just over 80,000. Many in the crowd, comprised mainly of students, began lining up before noon for the rally. This will be one hell of an election.

PhotoJ (Single Flash, 2nd take)

This is from my second attempt of shooting with flash and I focused mainly on bounce flash, being that I have a direct flash from the first take I liked. So this is my select for bounce and the last post is my select for direct.

PhotoJ (Single Flash, 1st take)

So this is my first attempt at real flash work and let me tell you, its a bitch! Direct flash is harsh and awkward to look at. I post again on this subject again on Thursday, but until then enjoy...or maybe don't. = )

workin

I just want to preface by saying when I wasn't shooting I was working twice as hard as both of them at cutting wood...or at watching Dexter on TV. = )

Roots and Blues Weekend

We all left the house, except for Stephen, who could not find any clothing except for boxers.

When will Iavora figure out that summer is over and it is no longer time for summer dresses?

Politics as Usual? ... Not quite

Immediately after the only vice-presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska spoke to a crowd of supporters gathered in the indoor stadium on St. Louis University's campus. I chose to tone these photos in black and white ... because the color was piss poor = ). I feel that my mistakes worked in my favor in these images and the black and white made them more dramatic and made me look at them in a different way, enjoy!

Moo-Dah Parade

I finally took some photos outside of the house! I also did some audio madness. The whole event was quite fun and everyone I talked to was super cooperative and nice.

PhotoJ outtake

Went to a public pool for their last day of being open and dog's were allowed to swim. I think this might be the ugliest dog there...and by that I mean greatest!
