Mangum Rattlesnake Derby

Over the course of the weekend Esten, Luke, Chris Dunn and I went on a photo expedition to Mangum Oklahoma for a Rattlesnake Derby. 10 hours down the road we found fried Rattlesnakes and southern charm. If you have ever wondered what a Rattlesnake gallbladder looks/taste like, check out the last frame and ask that guy.

Long Time No Post

I got a fisheye lens for the weekend, and pushed my beds together, and went to Which Wich? with Will and Anjali.

I also shot a NAACP event on campus and took a picture when the lights turned off.

And we had a dance party in Respect with some funky lights and some funkier music.

Penny Marvel opens for STARS

Given a list of many local bands (as well as their myspace pages) the nationally touring band STARS came to one that they liked the most, Penny Marvel. Playing to a large crowd, Penny Mavel was well received and well rehearsed. I shot the whole time.

Penny Marvel

This weekend has been shoot crazy for me. Penny Marvel's party, Earth Day, and Penny Marvel opening for STARS at the Blue Note! Over 1000 frames in 3 days, its enough to make your head spin. These are a few of the pictures I took during Wil Reeves party where Penny Marvel (as well as several other) played. These might be in my final project, but until the final edit is done, who knows?

Brian & Rick

I had dinner with my friends Brian and Rick today and had a recently borrowed D3 with me. The camera was for a project I was shooting later that night (and will be up soon I hope) but I took a few pictures just for the hell of it.

Another Camp Photos

Here is another old photo I did a quick edit of to put on the interwebs. It's a photo I took during a third period choice in which I guarded some lives. I couldn't develop film at camp, but when I was taking photos during this hour period I knew I got some good stuff. It was great to get back to school and see all the photos develop (PUN INTENDED). It was a nice day. I like sun.

Civil Rights Initiative

The Civil Rights Initiative is a proposed Bill for Missouri voters to vote on. People are currently trying to gather signatures to get the Bill on the ballot. The Civil Rights Initiative, despite it's name is actually an attempt to remove Affirmative Action from the state of Missouri. In an act of protest several hundred students marched through campus in protest.

Road Tripping

We went to Iowa this weekend. Anjali's buddies from high school go to Grinnell College and so we hopped in a the car and drove straight north. I had taken out a very wide lens from the J School and so some of these pictures are weirdly distorted.

Anjali and Will were very excited to finally get to Iowa.

There were two of them! Dylan and Derek Gumm, true American heroes! This was Anjali tricking them into checking our blogs so our analytics would be the jump off!

We then went on a tour of Grinnell's campus. This is a picture of this desk jungle gym they have in the library. It was cute and gimmicky, I doubt people really study there.

And we got pizza and everyone was feeling pensive. Then they brought the wrong pizza to us and then we got the correct pizza, sans black olives, for half off.

After not having any fun at night, BOUNCE, we went to get a delicious Mid-Western breakfast. Well, I had a hamburger, but it was around the time for a good college breakfast.

On the way back we pulled over to the side of the road and ran around a deserted house for a few minutes. It was creepy but very photographable.

Good bye Iowa and your big skies.

This was my first time messing around with Sports photography and I feel I obtained mixed results. It was a good time and I think that my sports trials are not over. Also this was the first time I turned my motor drive to full speed and its scary.

Sports Shooting

I do not shoot sports a lot. So this project for Fundamentals was moderately troublesome for me. And half of the pictures I shot without even thinking about the project. So here are my submissions for the sports project.

Enjoy!

It was kind of fun to shoot with all of the long lenses and the fun bodies. But my arms are kind of sore!
